(#124) Cinnamon Chai Cookie: A Flavor For Akhil

My boyfriend is the ultimate Cookie Monster. So much so, that for his birthday, I gave him a giant jar filled with a cookie medley. Note: his birthday was a few weeks ago and that jar is 90% empty (or 10% full if you're a cookie optimist!). I made this flavor for him (he's Indian, hence the chai twist) and it was such a hit that I made a ton more and put it up in my shop. As with the cookies in his jar -- there's more where that came from!

(#109) Mystery Cookie: I'll Never Tell.

Mystery Cookie -- it's a dirty little secret in ice cream form.
Here's the scoop on #mysterycookie: It's six cookie varieties in ONE flavor. If you try Mystery Cookie at any future Scoopsies event(s) and guess all of the cookies correctly, you will be deemed "The Ultimate Cookie Monster" and win a gallon of Mystery Cookie and...a Golden Cookie. Your guesses must include brand and type of cookie and I can only tell you if your six guesses are correct as a whole. All are considered "cookies" on their packaging.
Hint: There are two of the same type of cookies in Mystery Cookie, though they are different brands.
You'll never guess unless you truly are a Cookie Monster. Happy guessing, you little piggies!

(#38) COOKIE DOUGH: Childhood Favorite

Cookie dough ice cream is probably the most popular "modern" but classic ice cream flavor. During the early 90's Ben & Jerry's started mass producing this flavor, obviously making it every child's number one choice. I remember being excited to see it at the local Friendly's restaurant and then being even more excited when every shop in town started carrying this flavor. I try to use my "grown-up taste buds" but I can never outgrow cookie dough ice cream!

Scoopsies' Cookie Dough Ice Cream
yields about 1.5 quarts

cookie dough:
5 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/8 cup chocolate chopped very fine
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

vanilla base:
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
3/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon guar powder
1/2 cup sugar
1 vanilla bean
2 large eggs
2 large egg yolks
Pinch of salt
1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

(#12) DOUBLE OREO: Double Trouble

It's double the deliciousness with our original Double Oreo!  Throw in the (completely) crushed up crumbs of about ten Oreos right when you start churning the base, and chunks of the rest of the Oreos towards the end of the churning!

Scoopsies' Double Oreo Ice Cream
yields about 1 quart
2 cups heavy cream
1 whole cup milk
3 large egg yolks

2 large eggs
2 tbsp nonfat milk powder
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
15-20 oreos coarsely chopped
pinch of salt
